Your Wedding, Your Life, is Your Art of Living

Wedding planning often starts with looking through magazines and websites to find the pieces and parts that will make your wedding uniquely yours. Look deeper. Your own life, your treasures, your experiences, and what you consider to be style should be in the plan. This is a good thing to keep in mind when you’re looking at others’ photos. What is your style? What is your art of living?

British actress Helena Bonham Carter has a great quote about this very subject.

“I think everything in life is art.  What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.”

She’s right. For many young people, a wedding is the first time they integrate all the aspects of themselves and their relationship into an event. It will set the stage for the unfolding of the rest of your life and your art of living. Look carefully at the style of our photos. We try to capture the style and spirit of our subjects. That’s why they differ. At Daniel Photo Pro, we have no set “wedding style”, we seek to capture the art of living of our clients.

Congratulations! You’re engaged! What now?

If you got engaged over the holidays or even talked about marrying in the next two years, congratulations! Becoming engaged ignites an inner joy in two people that is like no other. The realization that you’re in love enough to commit to each other for life is an incredibly good feeling. Hold on to that awareness through the process as planning gets hectic. Know also that when you stand across from one another in the wedding ceremony to speak your vows, that feeling will come back again even stronger.

So after the initial euphoria of getting engaged has diminished, what do you do? First, have some heart-to-heart talks with your betrothed to understand what kind of wedding you want to have. Do it together. Weddings, like the marriage that follows, are about two people. If one wants a large one and the other wants something intimate, work out a compromise.

 When you have it, start planning. It helps a lot to imagine the wedding day and backtrack from there. Reach out to the big four as soon as you can: the venue, the officiant, the photographer, and key family members. Engagement photos supply you with the Save the Date photo. Post-pandemic travel is at an all-time high so you need to get your Save the Date cards out fast. Then, the caterer, the band, the florist, and all things that involve professionals should be booked. Of course, a heart-to-heart talk with each other and/or parents about paying for your wedding should occur early on. Don’t forget the honeymoon!
