Home Weddings – How to Set Up for Photography

If you feel it’s best to have a small wedding at home during the pandemic, don’t be disappointed, be creative and innovative!  Most couples look at Instagram, other online sources, or magazines for ideas on how to arrange a home for a wedding. Before you look at other people’s ideas, try to come up with your own. You may be more creative than you think. As you walk through the home and grounds in which the wedding will be held, think first of what might work, instead of what won’t work. Look with fresh eyes of possibility. That’s what we do at Daniel Photo Pro, we look for what’s possible rather than what appears to be.

For compelling photographs, it’s better to concentrate on small spaces within the venue where different types of photos can be taken, rather than trying to make a whole room or a whole house look perfect. A home wedding is naturally going to be more intimate, so take advantage of that and look for spots indoors or out where you can have a variety of photos. You can make a wedding seem much larger by shooting photos in mini settings within the space.  Walk around with your smartphone and shoot lots of potential spots where a photo could be set up.  When you see how a space looks in a photo, you can envision what type of decorations, plants, flowers, or artwork might transform or enhance it for a wedding photo.

Preparing a home for a wedding often results in meaningful home improvements. It’s a way to have an incredibly personal, intimate, unique, and joyful wedding.
